11 O’Clock Press is an independent publisher and media company based in Portland, Oregon. We publish books and reporting at the intersection of science, intelligence, technology, and the ideas shaping our future.
Our work ranges from long-form books and independent journalism to the creative products that help people develop ideas of their own. Across each form, the aim is the same: make complex thinking understandable, examine important claims against the evidence, and give original perspectives room to develop.

Chief Executive Officer
Shelley Downs
Shelley Downs is the Chief Executive Officer of 11 O’Clock Press, the company behind Story Staffers. She leads the company’s strategy and growth as it develops new ways to help people create, refine, and share written work.
She holds a master’s degree in international business and previously served as CEO of a successful medical apparel company. Shelley has also lived and worked in China and Italy, gaining firsthand experience navigating different markets, cultures, and ways of working.
Through Story Staffers, she is building a platform that connects writers with human expertise and intelligent tools while creating new ways for people everywhere to contribute what they know.

Chief Product Officer
Mounir Shita
Mounir Shita is the Chief Product Officer of 11 O’Clock Press, where he leads the product vision behind Story Staffers. An author, research scientist, and entrepreneur, he works at the intersection of storytelling, science, engineering, and business.
Mounir is the author of five books and holds multiple degrees across engineering, science, and business, including graduate study through the master’s level. His multidisciplinary background shapes how he approaches products: how a system works, how people understand it, and how an idea becomes useful.
At 11 O’Clock Press, he translates the company’s research and ambitions into products that help people develop stronger ideas and bring them to life.
